My father once built me a beautiful shell
I could crawl back inside it
Avoid all the crowds
My mother once told me
My darling Lu
You’re no better than anyone
They’re no better than you
They’re no better than you
Well perhaps she’s right
And perhaps it’s true
‘Cause I feel pretty bad and they seem pretty blue
All marching in lines
Fiercely shaking our heads
Quite sure we don’t like it
But afraid it will end
So let’s spin in circles
And let’s throw back our heads
Then fall down beside me love
And we’ll stand up again
And we’ll fall down again
Are we all the same?
Just the same sane fools
Frightened by love and in love with our rules
I wanna be loved for my beautiful blue
I want you to show me the blue within you

It's been a really long time since I've been that impressed by songwriting so creative and smart, plus the courage in displaying such vulnerability, and touched by the sheer beauty of the music, all at the same time. (I'm usually not a fan of digital only music purchases, but just had to make an exception here, after having the pleasure of experiencing a live gig by the wonderful Lucy, and buying the followup album on CD there - also heavily recommended!) mawit

Well... Like some people here, I never really liked that song! However, this is *so* much better than the original, for all the reasons already listed by deluded_marxist! The depth of feelings here, especially from the vocals but also the slow music, really is on a whole other level! Thanks to Tara Tantrum for taking me here! Highly recommended!!! bmurator
