Ripple in the red tide as the rapture rolls in
I can feel it in my belly and the scales on my skin
Absolution retribution crucified and frail
I paint myself with animal blood and scream baby’s not for sale
I got a mind like an earthquake a vision like a hearse
I spend my days cultivating blood from the earth
Idolizing ostracizing trying not to make a mess
I spend my nights dreaming of a woman in a dead girl dress
Tell me what you want to do
I’ll do anything you want me to
Do you feel like a bug
Do you feel like a fraud
Do you feel like the dog shit on the boot heel of the Lord
I am a cannibal baby I want to eat your beautiful brain
Rip out your raven hair and wear it like a mane
Tell me what you want to do
I’ll do anything you want me to
Hang me from my worries
Hang me from my woes
Won’t you hang me from the ring
Stuck through the center of your nose
Everything’s a struggle and everyone is trouble
And everything is wrong and everyone’s upset
A bad decision a sad apparition
And a vision of a woman in a dead girl dress
Tell me what you want to do
I’ll do anything you want me to
Well out there is my mother and she’s drifting out to sea
And I wonder what my father really truly thinks of me
And I think about my sister and I hope that she is free
Sometimes I think of suicide and becoming a tree
An almost anti-blues/anti-rock style that masters classic sounds while mocking the industry’s perceived seriousness. Bandcamp New & Notable Aug 27, 2018

It's been a really long time since I've been that impressed by songwriting so creative and smart, plus the courage in displaying such vulnerability, and touched by the sheer beauty of the music, all at the same time. (I'm usually not a fan of digital only music purchases, but just had to make an exception here, after having the pleasure of experiencing a live gig by the wonderful Lucy, and buying the followup album on CD there - also heavily recommended!) mawit
