You are the last light
Bringing the night quiet
Letting the day down as soft as you can
Mine is a wild breath
A muddied and torn dress
Holding it in from the flames for as long as I can
You don’t know how to hold me ‘cause I’m kicking the walls
You’re giving all you’ve got and I keep asking for more
You feel like you should kiss me but I’m gnashing my teeth
You fear that you will miss me but you beg and you pray for release
Yours is a cool breeze
With eyes like the green sea
Soft as the clouds that I feel whenever you breathe
Mine is a curved line
It knots with the minds eye
As steady as man’s love for the things he can’t see
I don’t know how to see you when your head’s in the sky
You don’t know how to trust me when I say that I try
I lie inside this madness ‘cause I know what I’ve found
I’ve found that I am free, my love, keep me bound
A heart that needs to feel you hold it down
Once filled with wings now heading for the ground
It's been a really long time since I've been that impressed by songwriting so creative and smart, plus the courage in displaying such vulnerability, and touched by the sheer beauty of the music, all at the same time. (I'm usually not a fan of digital only music purchases, but just had to make an exception here, after having the pleasure of experiencing a live gig by the wonderful Lucy, and buying the followup album on CD there - also heavily recommended!) mawit
The Morrison-sounding vocals, the smooth grooves... If you're into this genre, just buy their discography in one shot - you won't be disappointed. Every album is gold. Rudolf Nisbeth
An almost anti-blues/anti-rock style that masters classic sounds while mocking the industry’s perceived seriousness. Bandcamp New & Notable Aug 27, 2018
British folk musician Tom Nash built these delicate and moving songs around a broken harmonium, allowing its limitations to open up worlds. Bandcamp New & Notable Oct 12, 2021
This is some great music for a morose, rainy day. Lush, sedate, bluesy, and with a certain apocalyptic flair, most evident on White Horses, which sounds very much like a psychedelic blues dirge.
I appreciate that the songs sometimes lose themselves along the way, giving way to some beautiful psych explorations. I also enjoy the vocals on this - they sometimes waver, but they fit the music so well. Smekermann
